Reverend Donald Laymon Donald Laymon is an experienced minister who has served as a staff pastor as well as a senior pastor since 1996. Due to tremendous challenges in ministry - Donald has sought counsel to deal with these challenges, only to find that this counsel is either too costly, too inadequate, or unrealistic in its application. In addition to the challenges he has faced specific to ministry, Brother Laymon has lived through multiple traumatic life experiences from which he draws tremendous strength and wisdom when dealing with difficult issues. Education Donald was an engineering student at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in Oxford, MS. It was at Ole Miss that Donald began experiencing multiple challenges to his faith and relationship with Christ, and it was here where he learned that strength came through prayer, the Word, and the Power of the Holy Spirit. After one year at Ole Miss, the Lord released Donald to the pursuit of his calling. He soon enrolled in Southwestern under the discouragement of many friends and family - to pursue what was sure to be a less lucrative vocation in ministry. Donald is a graduate of Southwestern Assemblies of God University where he obtained a degree with honors in Cross-Cultural Missions Ministry and a degree in Bible. He still continues his education today, pursuing a Master of Divinity degree from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. Donald is also a qualified member of the ACPE (Association for Clinical Pastoral Education). Ministry As an experienced minister, you can be assured that when you speak with Brother Laymon, you are speaking with someone who has been in a similar, if not the same situation that you may be facing. To this point in his ministry, he has ministered as a staff pastor as well as senior pastor. He has served in full-time, part-time, and bi-vocational roles with success and failures. In the course of his ministry, he has encountered many difficult circumstances that are common to many ministers - balancing time with family and ministry, counseling parishioners through various tragedies, times of Spiritual dryness, financial hardships both personal and ministerial, staff issues, and unethical church/board members.
